Last summer I went to a Excecutive Briefing at the Microsoft EBC in Redmond. The this 3 day meeting handled about Microsoft moving to online services or cloud services. Probably you heard about the intentions of Microsoft and maybe you heard about names like BPOS and Azure.
For me, I was mainly interested in the online concepts and the business opportunity's. One of the issues on the agenda was about datacenters. Ofcourse, this is the hardware infrastructure needed to make the cloud possible was my first impression. Also a lot of datacenter guys joint us to the EBC. What surprised me was the way datacenter concepts developed and the way engineering and thinking about energy and sustainability lead to the modern datacenter architectures.
Take a look at this video for a few of those implemented concepts.
