Cloud computing

I started this blog triggered by the 'definition' of cloud computing that football coach Jack gave to explain his vision on -THE CLOUD-. Of course it is a Microsoft definition as an introduction of the speech Steve Balmer provided on the university.

I tried to watch this webcast once, but discovered I have to review this one again. To much of vision to absorb and process in one go. It is my way of thinking fast but lateral.

The cloud is a computing model where physical computers are abstracted in a way to enable people, whether they are at work or play, to have access to there data across devices. Interact with friends, families or colleagues, make better decisions and power the world businesses.

So? Like Oracle's CEO Larry Ellison my reaction could easy be saying: What are you talking about? Nothing changed! There are still servers, just lots of them! Well the change is not in this phyical server concept, but in there are other dimensions that are changing our world.

Dimensions

  • The cloud creates business opportunity's and responsibility

  • The cloud learns and helps you to learn, decide and take action

  • The cloud enhances your social and professional interactions

  • The cloud wants smarter devices

  • The cloud drives server advances that drives the cloud

  • Lots to think about. So I will split this into a series of blogs in the comming period. Thanks Steve for this framework. I'll try to explore it.

    Warning?
Today 70% of Microsoft developers (40k) are involved in The Cloud. Within a year this will be 90%. We still have existing customers... The inspiration starts with the cloud.
